Our Mission

Be Pack Leader; Canine Rehabilitation is led by partners Roddy and Louise, bringing together science, experience, and real-world application to offer a complete and trusted approach to dog training and behaviour modification. Together, they share 25 years of combined professional experience, having worked hands-on with tens of thousands of dogs across pet homes, rescue environments, and complex behavioural cases.

Their partnership is built on shared values, mutual respect, and a commitment to doing what is right for both dogs and the people who love them. Louise brings an evidence-based, scientific perspective, with a background in biological science, animal behaviour, and the psychology of learning in animals. Her work is deeply rooted in rehabilitation, rescue, and behaviour modification, particularly with dogs presenting complex or high-risk needs.

Roddy complements this with nearly two decades of practical, frontline experience, specialising in clear communication, structure, and trust-based training that delivers reliable, long-term results in real-life situations.

Both Roddy and Louise are actively involved at an industry level through their work with the Association of Balanced Dog Trainers (ABDT) and their contributions to the Scottish Government’s Scottish Animal Welfare Committee (SAWC), helping to protect ethical, welfare-led training practices in the UK. They are also professional members of the IACP (International Association of Canine Professionals).

What sets them apart is not just their individual experience, but how their skills combine. Every programme at Be Pack Leader is shaped by science, experience, and compassion, ensuring training is always safe, fair, and makes sense to both the dog and the human. This balanced leadership allows clients to feel supported, confident, and empowered — not just during training, but long after it ends.

By working with Roddy and Louise, owners aren’t simply booking sessions; they are gaining access to a complete canine rehabilitation service designed to create clarity, confidence, and lasting change — transforming lives for dogs and their families for
good.

Louise

Louise is a biological scientist by trade, with a deep-rooted, evidence-based focus on animal behaviour and the psychology of learning in animals. She sits on the Board of Directors for the Association of Balanced Dog Trainers (ABDT) and played a key role in the successful overturning of the proposed e-collar ban during the Scottish Animal Welfare Committee (SAWC) meeting in 2022, helping to protect ethical, welfare-led training practices.

With a professional background spanning animal husbandry, equestrian training, and canine behaviour, Louise brings an exceptional level of hands-on experience and applied knowledge to the team. Her greatest passion lies in rescue and rehabilitation, where she works closely with multiple rescues across the UK and overseas, supporting dogs through assessment, behavioural rehabilitation, and their successful transition into family homes. Louise has over six years’ experience as a professional dog trainer, specialising in pet dog behaviour modification and obedience training.

She is particularly well known for her success with overseas rescue dogs, many of whom arrive with complex behavioural needs, and is frequently called upon by rescue organisations to assess, support, and guide challenging cases. At home, Louise has two horses as well as the five family dogs, including two foreign rescues, and often an additional foster dog or two — reflecting her commitment to living and working alongside the dogs she helps. Always driven to expand her expertise, she is currently studying towards a Canine Nutrition Certification, further strengthening her holistic, rehabilitation-focused approach to canine care and behaviour.

Roddy

Roddy is a highly experienced canine professional with nearly two decades in the dog training and rehabilitation industry. He founded the original Be Pack Leader in 2007, building a reputation for results-driven, ethical training grounded in clear communication, structure, and trust. His work focuses on helping dogs and owners achieve long-term success through methods that are practical, fair, and rooted in real-world application.

Roddy is the founder of the Association of Balanced Dog Trainers (ABDT) and is actively involved at a strategic level as a stakeholder for the Scottish Government’s Scottish Animal Welfare Committee (SAWC). He has played a leading role in safeguarding balanced, welfare-focused training practices in the UK and has been at the forefront of discussions surrounding responsible training tools and canine welfare for many years.

With an estimated 20,000 dogs worked with internationally, Roddy brings extensive experience across pet dog training, behaviour modification, and high-risk rehabilitation cases. He is particularly well known for his work with bully breeds, dedicating much of his career to rehabilitating dogs from challenging backgrounds and helping them become stable, reliable family companions. His work in this area has involved close collaboration with UK Police Forces, veterinarians, and legal professionals, and he is regularly called upon as an expert witness in court.

His experience, leadership, and commitment to ethical practice play a central role in shaping Be Pack Leader’s standards, training philosophy, and client outcomes.
